Only seven years after your epic battle I became 18 and joined the RAF to serve my two years National Service in Singapore, Hong Kong. I was never able to regard myself as ‘one of the few’, yet many of you were also 18 years of age and responded brilliantly when called. Could I have done so? I have often wondered but you did and I thank you for the peace that I eventually enjoyed. Thank you
