I was a boy of 10 living in South-east London directly under the path of the
German bombers. I saw the heroism of our fighters above me every day and now,
at age 95, every detail is still engraved on
my memory. The courage of the Few, and
their ultimate victory on the 15 th Sept.,
1940, stopped the Nazi juggernaut in its
tracks and bought us time. I revere their
memory for if we had lost the war we would have been a nation of slaves.
