• ALLAN MARTIN

I was only one year old when you were fighting and dying to keep us free. My life now is limited – you will live forever. Thankyou.

  • Chris, Nick and Fran Hindley

Thank you Dad (Wg. Cdr. A. R. Hindley, AFC, OBE) for your bravery in helping defend our beloved country. We know your losses were heavy and so very many made the ultimate sacrifice as you fought the enemy in the skies above. From Spitfires to Lancaster Bombers and then Test Pilot, ‘… without his skilled flying the preparation of (Stirling) aircraft for use by the airborne forces in the invasion of Normandy could not have been achieved’.

Our freedom was hard fought for by you all. ‘The bravery and sacrifice of RAF aircrew was matched by the ceaseless effort and devotion of RAF ground crew, RAF engineers, mechanics, and armourers, as well as countless others on the ground who worked day and night to keep the RAF ready for battle’. To you all we give our grateful thanks.

We’re so proud of you Dad. Thank you so much. All our love. RIP.

  • Nick Beilby

Our eternal thanks can never be enough for what you sacrificed and gave us all .

Remembering my father 565216 Ralph (Dinger) Bell and his best friend 565201 Marmaduke (Dukie) Ridley who travelled down from Newcastle together to RAF Halton to join the RAF as boy entrants. My father lived until he was 90 but Dukie lost his life on 26.08.1940. RIP to those brave men.

Without the heroism of our fighter pilots guarding fortress Britain my grandad Albert Kubieniec& his 305 squadron flying mosquito fighter-bombers would never had been able to decimate Nazi industry

  • Jean Griffiths

Thank you to my late dad Cecil Leonard, who served as an aircraft fitter from March 1940 for the duration of the war. Not one of the “Few” but the many, who quietly got on with it, and whose example encouraged me to enlist 24 years later.

  • Brenda Kelly
